Axis Bank completed the acquisition of Citibank’s consumer business in March 2023.

The migration of Citibank credit cards to Axis Bank is set to be finalised by July 15, 2024. This transition is part of Axis Bank’s acquisition of Citibank India’s consumer businesses and its non-banking finance arm, initiated on March 1, 2023, for Rs 11,603 crore.

Axis Bank completed the acquisition of Citibank’s consumer business in March 2023. By July 15, 2024, all Citi relationships, including credit cards, will be fully migrated to Axis Bank.

Following the migration, users will be able to enjoy the benefits of their new Axis Bank credit cards while using their existing Citi-branded cards.

Until customers receive their new Axis Bank cards (anticipated by the end of the year), their existing Citibank-branded cards will continue to function without any issues.

The card PIN, card number, expiry date, and CVV of the current Citi cards will remain unchanged. Additionally, the billing cycle, statement generation date, and payment due date will stay the same.

Citi customers will continue to enjoy the same benefits and privileges, with no changes to their existing bank account numbers, credit/debit card numbers, cheque books, IFSC, or MICR codes. They will also continue to be serviced by the same relationship managers and teams.

Rebranding of cards: New credit card names

There will be no changes to the interest rate or any other charges applicable to your Citi credit card; they will remain as per the ‘Most Important Terms and Conditions’. You will be informed of any relevant changes with adequate advance notice.

As part of the migration, existing Citibank credit cards will be rebranded under Axis Bank with the following new names:

  • Axis Bank SHOPPERS STOP Credit Card (formerly First Citizen Citi Credit Card)
  • Axis Bank CASHBACK Credit Card (formerly Citi Cash Back Credit Card)
  • Axis Bank HORIZON Credit Card (formerly Citi PremierMiles Credit Card)
  • Axis Bank OLYMPUS Credit Card (formerly Citi Prestige Credit Card)
  • Axis Bank REWARDS Credit Card (formerly Citi Rewards Credit Card and Citi Business Credit Card)
  • IKEA Family Credit Card by Axis Bank (formerly IKEA Family Credit Card by Citi)
  • INDIANOIL AXIS BANK PREMIUM Credit Card (formerly IndianOil Citi Credit Card and IndianOil CitiBusiness Credit Card)

Fees and Charges

  • No, there will be no change in the annual fees for your Citi-branded card after migration. If your card currently has no annual fees, it will remain unchanged even after the migration.
  • Changes in fees and charges might occur with the migration to Axis Bank. Any changes regarding annual fees will be communicated to you in advance by the bank.

Personal Loans

  • There will be no changes in any terms & conditions or features of existing personal loans.
  • If any changes occur in the future, you will be informed in advance to avoid any inconvenience.
  • There will be no changes in service charges for existing loan accounts.

Debit Cards

  • There will be no changes to your Citibank Debit Card or withdrawal limits.
  • Your existing card will remain functional with all current benefits and features.

Branches and ATMs

  • After the transfer date, Citibank branches and ATMs will be rebranded as Axis Bank branches and ATMs.
  • While branch timings will change, the locations of the branches and ATMs will remain the same.

Notifications of Changes

  • Any future changes will be communicated to you in advance to avoid any inconvenience.

Reward Points

  • As of the migration date, all unredeemed points will be converted into Axis EDGE REWARD Points or EDGE Miles.
  • Points earned until the migration date will retain their never-expiring status.
  • Points earned post-migration will expire after three years.

Transaction History

  • Post-migration, customers will retain access to their historical credit card transactions and statements.
  • Historical statements for the past 18 months will be accessible through the Axis Bank Mobile Banking App and internet banking platform.
